I am an award winning comedian and radio presenter. I have also dabbled in the acting field. I write sketch comedy to full length political dramas, I am a trained humanities school teacher and also a qualified youth work trainer. I have taught mainly in London but also worked in both Africa and the Caribbean., I began to pursue a career in the media and stand up comedy in 1993My media career began on a community radio station in 1994. I then went onto to train at the BBC radio school based in the White City. In 1996 I became a weekly contributor on the BBC’s GLR. I had a weekly slot reviewing the papers. Within 9 months I was snapped up by Choice FM radio to host the breakfast show and also a weekend show called The Schumann ShuffleI was rewarded with the Outstanding Contribution to Comedy Award in 2001 at the Black Comedy Awards. Two years earlier I was voted the Youth Personality of the Year at the prestigious Voice Newspaper Awards in 1999.I have numerous television appearances spanning comedy, current affairs, documentaries and drama. My comedic skills have been seen on Club Class, Nights Out at the Empire, The Real McCoy, Get it On and The Stand Up Show. I was also a contributor on BBC1’s tribute to Lenny Henry and Sky 1’s, Celebrities Behaving Badly. My acting skills were seen in The Bill, Minder and Casualty. All of these were very minor rolesIn August 1996 I was the subject of a BBC2 documentary entitled ‘The Day That Changed My Life'. The programme chronicled my transition from teaching to show business.I would describe my comedy style as thought provoking, topical and wickedly funny. I am also a gifted playwright. In 1997 I wrote and starred in a revue comedy sketch show called Waiting to Inhale. The box office hit show was staged at the Theatre Royal Stratford East and at the time had the highest attendance in the theatres 100 year history.
In August 1997 until March 2004 I hosted the highly popular breakfast show on Choice FM Radio. I also had the highest ever rated solo programme on the station on Saturday mornings. This was called ‘The Schumann Shuffle’. This was a mixture of both music and comedy whilst encompassing an hour long topical phone-in discussion programme. Whilst with Choice FM I was famed for my satirical wind up phone calls on the radio and in 2003 I released a comedy CD called Shades of Schumann. A mixture of comedy sketches, songs and the legendary wind up phone calls.I am also a well established night club DJSince 2002 I have been a regular contributor and reviewer on Channel 5 News. I have also been a political pundit on Newsnight, Kilroy and The London Programme. In October 2003 I wrote and presented a hard hitting documentary for Dispatches on Channel 4. This gritty documentary, called Thug Life explored the escalating tensions between inner city youths in Britain.In March 2003. I hosted my own show on BBC Radio London, 94.9 FM (10pm-2am) It was a mixture of topical chat, music and satire. I have also been the television critic for The Voice Newspaper. In June 2008 I have worked for BANG radio working on their breakfast show as a presenter/producer. I also do freelance media training for them
