Linda Dawn Hammond, Photographer and journalist.
<>I (Linda Dawn Hammond) was a participant/observer and photographer of the punk scene in Toronto, Montreal & NYC, throughout the late 70s/80s and well into the '90s. Following that, well, what is punk now. at least by my definition. I moved to Montreal in '82 and still consider it home, though since 2 years I live elsewhere. My alter ego was/is Dawn One, a name created for a comic zine I contributed to in '83, then became affixed to punk jewellery I was selling in the lower East side of NYC . I eventually decided that perhaps Post Punk was a more appropriate label to aspire to, rather than end up like those old hippies who just won't go away. Nevertheless, my politics (decidedly LEFT) and general attitude (those who knew, know!) remains relatively unchanged since my punk days. Though I'm probably easier to deal with now- less ego and less hyper.
My Quebec Summit series was on exhibit in Montreal at the Art + Anarchy Montreal in May, 2007. One of the photos is in a new book of poetry by Norman Nawrocki (see friends) and are in the slide show on this site.
