La Chunky Towers Studios

About Me

La Chunky Towers is a treasure trove of vintage analogue audio gear and esoteric & rare musical instruments much of it restored by our own fair hands. Our Philosophy is to produce recordings with character, warmth and humanity while retaining the convenience of digital. Yes we record to hard drive like everyone else but we do so via analogue signal paths of the highest quality.
Mixing
We also prefer not to mix "inside the box" believing this to be one of the prime causes of soulless, bland recordings. We take faders and knobs over mouse clicks everytime and we love to get our hands dirty on real audio equipment. Check out the photos and gear list for some real gems from the past.
Facilities
Our facility in Glasgow's West End is a unique combination of advanced digital trickery and classic analogue audio warmth. In addition we have a large live room and an inspiring control room - it's a genuine creative environment!
Technophobes?
We are not luddites however - we love technology! That's why our studio PCs are chock full of choice plug-ins and utilities and we also have a rack full of midi gear and classic samplers packed to the gunnels with memory. Looking for a sample of a 16 th century Sackbutt? We probably have it…
