Urban Waters is a solo project formed in 2003 by Grey/Bruce's own Nathan Seaman. While completing his Bachelor of Music Education and studying percussion at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo Ontario, Nathan formed the starting of The Urban Water Development in 2005. The band played parties, charity events and shows throughout the area, landing their first festival at Frontier Town.
After university, Nathan pursued his career in percussion, moving to Quebec to form the Montreal based band “Changeover.†During the winter of 2006, Nathan released his first solo album entitled Eyelid Canopy, showing his creative potential by ranging from different styles such as hip hop, classical piano and rock. With collaborations by artists like Blaze-One, DJ Tom Weatherburn and the WLU choir, it shows Nathan's determination to create an artistic community while exploring new musical forms.
While rocking clubs and bars with local musicians throughout Montreal, Changeover displayed their eclectic talents and love of music by recording their first five song EP at Planet Studios. Shortly after they recorded their live album at L'utopik with sound engineer Scott Taylor, which hosts several artists throughout the Montreal area. With their highlighted concert as part of the vernissage after party for Red Bird Studios, the band mutually decided to take a hiatus and pursue new creative passions.
Nathan then moved from Montreal to Toronto to complete his Bachelor of Education at OISE/UT, where he joined Hamilton based trio Saint Even. With Ancaster's own Steve Bick, the two connected instantly with their love of drumming and sub bass. Playing countless shows and festivals throughout Ontario and Quebec with bands like FM Hi Low, Slow Hand Motem and Plants and Animals, their determination to rock dancehalls has only led to packed venues of dedicated fans.
During his spare time working as a music specialist, Nathan started on a new creative project, forming and producing his new record with the musical talents of Owen Sound's Matthew Fellows. With his highly anticipated new album Beyond Crystal, Nathan's confidence in his vocabulary with melody and rhythm is evidence that this drum and bass packed electronic record will move dancehalls.
