About Me

Just got a letter from Click and Clack of Car Talk (npr) and it appears they are going to use 'demolition derby of hearts' on their yearly compilation cd. Born to children of Polish immigrants in New Jersey, Edward Wier is now based in Atlanta, Georgia where he performs, teaches, and writes music for television, radio, theater, film, and himself. He began playing electric guitar at fourteen on a hardware store instrument and many years later, while earning his degree in theology, was one of six chosen to play in the International Christopher Parkening Master Class recital hosted in Bozeman, Montana. He studied music at Georgia State University and has written for documentaries (Joe Lewis-Heavyweight, Ireland and the Irish, The great Wall of China, etc.) and co-wrote the theme song 'A Hard Road to Glory' (sung by the late Lou Rawls) for a two-hour Emmy award winning national TV special on the history of black athletes in America. He has written music for the Alliance Theater, NPR, WSB Radio. televison and performed in musical theater productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Man of LaMancha, Foxfire, and others. He recently revisited his roots with a fifth album of original solo guitar music, 'Sketches for Guitar', which also contains four pieces written by his mentor, David Walbert. His satirical song 'Scum of the Universe' (explaining why aliens don’t want to admit they know us) debuted on the nationally syndicated radio show Coast to Coast. He has published many essays, poems, and short stories as well as written articles for Guitar Review and Acoustic Musician Magazines. 'The Demolition Derby of Hearts' was featured on the nationally syndicated radio program, Car Talk. His hobbies include cooking, collecting art, emotional unavailability, co-dependency, and not teaching on Sundays. He is a regular contributor to 'The Wittenburg Door, America’s Pretty Much Only Religious Satire Magazine' and his first book, Blue Collar Tuxedo, Tales of a Working Musician, (a humorous look at the working musician’s life) was recently published. He teaches all the fretted instruments including banjo and bouzouki at Ken Stanton Music in Roswell and has about forty private students a week. Lately, he's been playing flamenco and gypsy jazz with longtime local friends Mike Martin and Daryl Dunn whenever he can."Self expression is cute in babies and seals where it can be charming but an artist's job is to affect people." ..
