Born in Paris in 1956, he started playing music at the age of 7: the piano first, at a music academy, and then classical guitar. He then started to study new music styles. As soon as he turned 16 he moved to Canada to improve his music style. His model artists are then Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and many others…like his neighbor and childhood friend, Dominique Gaumont, who will be guitarist for Miles Davis in 1974. Dominique welcomed Philippe Gaillot for many months in N.Y. This trip will be very enriching.

As an assistant in the Wilnox Studios (N.Y.), he spends a lot of time learning sound engineering technologies.
When back in France, he opens an important music instruments store in Versailles. When back in France, he will mostly be touring with his band "Concept", after his second album is released by 52d Rue Est Records. He will then play in many international festivals, such as the Nîmes festival in 1985 where he opens Ray Charles' concert.
He then opens a 24 tracks mobile studio in a truck, allowing him to record live concerts and festivals featuring artists like Carla Bley, Richie Cole, Michael Petrucciani, Chick Corea, Bass's Desire, Herbie Hancock, Raoul Petite, Archie Shepp, Chris McGregor… In 1988, Philippe Gaillot's first album as an independent musician "Lady Stroyed" is released by RDC Records.
