As a child growing up in Japan, TAKASHI.M showed a keen interest in the visual arts. He frequented art museums after school, and began studying oil painting at the age of 7, going on to receive numerous awards for his works.After three years of study at the prestigious Kuwasawa Design School in Tokyo where he majored in fashion design, Mr. Matsuzaki moved to New York City in 1997 in order to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer - and to return to the place of his birth.He immediately landed a position as an assistant to a local designer, and at the same time, with the popularity of 'super models' in the media, became very much drawn to make-up art.A self-taught make-up artist, he approached this art in the same way he had approached painting all his life - by applying his deep understanding of colors and his skills with brushes and pencils to a new canvas - the face. He said of his favorite aspect of the art of make-up: "I truly enjoy the challenge in discovering both the outer and inner beauty that each model possesses, accentuating it, and getting it across to the masses."As he gained experience as an in-store make-up artist for Christian Dior and Shiseido, he also began freelancing for such projects as the Coca-Cola, Colgate, Winter Fresh Gum, MTV TV commercials, fashion shows for NY Fashion week, as well as photo shoots for various magazines and TV programs both in the US and Japan.In 2003, a friend introduced him to singer Monday Michiru, one of his all-time favorite musicians. Amazed by his artistic talent, Monday took him on as her personal make-up artist for her shows, and subsequently as the photographer for the covers for her upcoming album and singles. This opportunity not only fulfilled his life-long fantasy of being a photographer where he could realize the world truthful to his own vision, but also reaffirmed his style and his idea of what is beautiful. He wishes to continue expressing his originality in his works through encountering other exceptional artists and their inspirational works.?
