About Me

PHIL started out assisting in the legendary FON studios in the late eighties working alongside the Fon Force production team on artists as diverse as BOY GEORGE, THE FALL, TAKE THAT, PULP and CABARET VOLTAIRE. He later went on to work with many early WARP Record acts including NIGHTMARES ON WAX and JIMMY TENOR. He has worked closely with 808 STATE on many projects that have included the DON SOLARIS album and remixes for BJORK and REM. An ongoing relationship with DJ PARROT of the ALL SEEING I since the early nineties has included projects such as SWEET EXORCIST with CABARET VOLTAIRE member RICHARD H KIRK, an ALL SEEING I tour, chart success with ’BADDEST RUFFEST’ for BACKYARD DOG and most recently recording and performing with SHOWBIZ RECORDINGS outfit WHITE TRASH.
In 2000 Phil set up his own record label FLAT RECORDS SHEFFIELD as an outlet for his own projects such as FLATBACK 4. An outfit written and produced by Phil with Sheffield vocalist STEVE EDWARDS.
FB4 received praise and airplay support from ROGER SANCHEZ, LOTTIE & PETE TONG amongst others who insisted on playing future single ’NICE TIGHT DERRIÈRE’ from CD-R on his Radio One Essential Selection in advance of their first release ’DISCOCIDE’ which again featured on the Essential Selection. Copies also contained mixes from MOLOKO and I MONSTER.
With FB4 Phil also had the opportunity to keep up his love of live work supporting MOLOKO on their 2003 tour.
NICE TIGHT DERRIERE will be having a new release in 2008 under the new name of LORDS OF FLATBUSH, which is a collabaration with SEAMUS HAJI and remixes from MICHAEL GRAY.
