I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Ryan and I live by the following quote, my own work of course:
"You can't defeat the retarded - you can only temporarily redirect their aimless hugs. He'll be back, but with more drool and more ambiguous affection toward strangers."
This page exists primarily as a means of 'publishing' the pieces I write (which I admit, aren't so great) and networking with fighters. If I happen to meet some neat people and keep up with friends, so be it.
As for some actual information about me:
I'm a creative writing and film double-major at CSUS (senior). I still have a teaching credential, MFA and PhD to obtain. I should be heading off to NYU within the next two years.
I'm goofy as all Hell, but you probably already know that - in fact, I'm utterly incapable of dealing with people that lack a sense of humor.
I know Spanish, Latin and Japanese (granted, my Japanese isn't so fresh anymore); I would hope that it's obvious that I know English quite well.
I like Jiu Jitsu. A lot. MMA is cool. I also like strength and conditioning a lot. Did I mention Jiu Jitsu? Yeah. Jiu Jitsu.
Point of interest - Leo Vieira is insane:

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

No one, screw you hippy!

...except fellow lovers of grappling and/or dinosaur training.

Commentary on "School Daze" by Spike Lee

First things first, this is commentary on a Spike Lee movie.  If you're uncomfortable with a paper quoting a character using the 'n' word, perhaps you should go read a book written before the tur...

How Greg Survived

Injuries Greg sustained: Left arm amputation at the shoulder Broken clavicle (as well as a series of torn up veins and arteries - resulting in +18 pints of blood lost, or so is my understanding) Broke...

James Joyce and "The Dead"

This is my final paper for my horribly-lame composition class.  I am not proud of this, but it's not a terrible paper.  My subject was (by my choice and suggestion):  Comparison of Joyc...
