About Me

Ok, first things first:

You might be looking at this page because you received an add request, and are wondering whom we are. Let us assure you: you were not picked by chance. All of our friends requests are lovingly chosen by hand. We may be Robots, but we're not machines. No program picked you; an individual did, based on the educated guess that you might like us and want to hear our music and maybe take part in the parties that we throw with our instruments. Give us a listen, read our words, look at our pictures, and know that if we got to be your friend, we would do our best to make you glad you picked us.

Enough of that...this is us:

The Golden Robot Armymay have started out as a folky side project for ex-Dangermart bass-master Alexander Malloy, but we have outgrown all our constraints, to become a sprawling example of well-travelled americana, in the vein of the New Pornographers, the Decemberists and Wilco (with occasional detours into DeVotchKa, Firewater and even CSNY territory). In a live setting, we try to throw an inclusive musical party that makes all comers feel welcome. We are engaged in an all-out hug-of-war with cynicism, but one look at our lyrics will convince you that we know that a little dirt under the fingernails is a good thing. We know things these days look dark, and sometimes life sucks; let us help make it a little brighter! We are the Golden Robot Army, and the Golden Robot Army loves you.

"might not be my bag, but maybe you'll be into it."
    --Megan Seling, The Stranger

"These songs practically sparkle and crackle, and there's an indefatigable positivity on this recording...I put this song on repeat for several hours"
-- Jordn, Sepiachord.com

Buy "like lightning" and join the party!

We also recently got our first play on KEXP! Call them at 206-903-5397, or email them at [email protected] to request us.
