The heavy metal band CounterParts started its journey in 1996, when André Baida (B), Maurício Grilo (D), Vinícius Grilo (G) and Renato Andrade (V) got together with the intent of playing music and having fun. Right after a few rehearsals, the saw the potencial and decided to compose their own songs, influenced by bands like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Helloween and other Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Progressive Metal names.
After two years, they decided to record they first Demo-CD, named "Faraway from Home", with five tracks: Deep Down, War of Innocents, Andes Dream, Hurricane in Me and the original version of War of Innocents. All of them showed strong guitar riffs and political and spiritual lyrics. Well produced, the K-7 version had a great distribution on the underground scene of Campinas (Sao Paulo), what made the band known and made it be invited to various gigs. The CD also got positive reviews on the magazines Valhalla (Soroacaba, Sao Paulo), Metal World (France) and Knolnott (USA).
In 1999, Emerson Penerari (V/K) and Renato Angelo (G) joined the band, which evoluted and proved it with the recording of a new Demo-CD: "Twilight Riders". Better produced and with a refined technic, it was once again well received. All the tracks, from the introduction "The Twilight Riders" to the last song, "Counter Parts", are full of energy, showing all the potencial of the band up to that date. The live gigs were the proof, ´cause they were all praised by their power and nice performances. However, things didn´t run so smoothly all the time.
Between the years 2000 and 2001, when the band prepared to the recording of their debut album, Vinícius Grilo, Renato Angelo and Renato Andrade left the band. The remanescent members decided, them, to continue with the band and find high quality musicians to substitute the others. That was a hard task, and the band was stopped for about a year.
People thought CounterParts would never come back, but that wasn´t an option anymore when Ricardo Corsi, also known in the city of Campinas because of his previous bands, Rafael Clemente and the keyboardist Diogo Fancelino completed the group. With this lineup, the band returned from the ashes, better then ever! Still in 2004, Rafael and Diogo left the band, seeking a more progressive sound. Ricardo Corsi also left and the guitarist René Chaves, together with keyboardist Rafael Borges were invited. Then the family was complete! They entered at Basement Studios to record their first album, called "A Dreamer Betrayed" and finally the cd is out! After that, again the band is surprised. Rafael Borges decides to leave the band. Cristiane Dias takes the place and we are proud to announce that Fábio De Matos is our brand new guitar player. See you on the "Pictures of a Dream Tour 2006/2007"!!!

A banda CounterParts iniciou sua jornada em 1996, quando André Baida (B), Maurício Grilo (D), Vinícius Grilo (G) e Renato Andrade (V) se uniram com a proposta de tocar músicas e se divertir. Logo após alguns ensaios, perceberam que tinham potencial e decidiram compor suas próprias músicas, influenciados por bandas como Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Helloween e outros nomes do Hard Rock, Heavy Metal e Progressive Metal.
Após dois anos, decidiram gravar sua primeira Demo-CD, intitulada "Faraway From Home", com cinco faixas: Deep Down, War of Innocents, Andes Dream, Hurricane in Me e a versão original de War of Innocents. Todas as faixas apresentavam riffs de guitarra marcantes e letras de cunho espiritual e político. A versão cassete desta Demo teve grande distribuição no cenário underground de Campinas/SP, colaborando para tornar a banda conhecida e rendendo convites para diversos shows. Além disso, o CD obteve resenhas positivas nas revistas Valhalla (Sorocaba, SP), Metal World (França) e Kolnott Magazine (USA).
Em 1999, com a entrada de Emerson Penerari (V/K) e Renato Angelo (G), a banda evoluiu e provou isso com a gravação do novo Demo-CD: "Twilight Riders". Com uma produção mais elaborada e uma técnica mais refinada, esta foi novamente muito reverenciada. Todas as faixas, desde a introdução "The Twilight Riders" até a última faixa "CounterParts", são um banho de pura energia; mostrando todo o potencial da banda até então. Os palcos são a prova viva desse potencial, pois os shows da banda sempre foram elogiados pelo seu carisma, potência e agito!
Porém, nem tudo são águas calmas. Entre os anos de 2001/2002, quando a banda preparava-se para começar a gravação de seu debut CD, sofreu três baixas: as saídas de Vinicius Grilo, Renato Ângelo e Renato Andrade. Os remanescentes decidiram, então, continuar a banda e encontrar músicos com qualidade igual ou superior aos anteriores. E isso foi um trabalho árduo, tanto que a banda ficou praticamente parada por cerca de um ano.
Após isso, a banda entrou em estúdio novamente para gravar as 10 músicas de seu primeiro cd oficial, intitulado "A Dreamer Betrayed", já disponível. Após o show de lançamento a banda sofre um duro golpe com a saída de Rafael Borges. Em seu lugar entra a tecladista Cristiane Dias, e anunciamos a entrada de mais um guitarrista para a família, Fábio De Matos. Nos vemos na "Pictures of a Dream Tour 2007/2008".
