About Me

I'm 32, which sometimes seems really old, and sometimes is just fine. :) I live in the Ravenna/Maple Leaf area, but am moving to Ballard in April--yay! If I'm going to watch TV, I prefer it to NOT be based in reality, thank you very much. Escapism is just fine on occasion. I talk a lot, which I'm sure is shocking if you know me. And I'm very fond of the fabulous city of Boston, despite all former evidence to the contrary.

My Interests

Nurturing the relationships in my life. Fresh air. Road trips. Kayaking. My kitty. Good food. Good restaurants. Jogging. Walking. Fiction when I'm not in school. Interesting movies. Music--listening to it, watching it, singing it. Floating in fresh water. Traveling. Good conversation.

I'd like to meet:

Kind people. Funny people. Thoughtful people. Ethical people.

Music:

Eddie From Ohio, Vance Gilbert, Christopher Williams, Dar Williams, Coldplay, U2, Fleetwood Mac, my mom and my sister, live folky acousticy stuff, The Paperboys, The Clumsy Lovers, Sarah Harmer, Ray LaMontagne, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Jonatha Brooke, Cat Stevens, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss, Alicia Keys, India Arie, Heart, Feist, and 5 million other things.

Movies:

Walking and Talking, Elizabeth and most things with Cate Blanchett, Pride and Prejudice (BBC version!) and most things by Jane Austen, Little Women, Bandits, Life is Beautiful, In America, Crash, Bridget Jones' Diary, Singles, Say Anything, Mermaids, White Christmas, Home for the Holidays, It's a Wonderful Life, a number of Chinese films, Frequency, human interest stories...

Television:

ABC dramas! What About Brian, Lost, Brothers and Sisters, Men in Trees... and Gilmore Girls. ABC.com is bad--BAD! And Little House on the Prairie. :) You know, when there's time for all of that.

Books:

Science and Health, The Kite Runner, historical fiction--esp by Morgan Llwellyn, Pride and Prejudice and other Jane Austen books, Louisa May Alcott, Jodi Picoult--esp Keeping Faith, Harry Potter, Anne of Green Gables, and more human interest stories

Heroes:

People who remind me that life is bigger than me, but not impossibly so. People who are striving to create positive change--whether on a small scale, or on a big scale. Because really, even the small helps the big.

So I've never posted anything here, and I'm not entirely sure why I am right now...  I think part of it is that I have these random thoughts rolling around in my head and I work at the end of a l...
