Like sperimentation. Like jazz. IKIJAZZ is a project born from the cooperation of a designer /dj, Daniela Boni, who is willing to translate the results of her musical research activities with the contribution of a jazz saxophonist, Emanuele Cisi, great solo bepop artist, in search of a new musical idea supported by the digital technology of today. IKI is a cooperation open to the contaminations and the contributions of the ones who are seduced by the idea of playing with them. A unique performance in which the acoustic tradition and the electronic research explore new frontiers of sound, defining new models which find their ideal location in the space reserved to the encounter of matter and ideas. IKIJAZZ is an ongoing project, a permanent evolution nourished by continuous contaminations. The encounter with producer Patrick Di Stefano, well-known Dj from Turin who develops his sound in Berlin, turning it in dj-sets and discographic productions, gave birth to the electronic pattern of the project: a reinvention of the acoustic sonorities through digital manipulation and composition of arrangements. The live debut of IkiJazz took place in Turin on the stage of MIAAO (Museo Arti Applicate Oggi, Museum of Contemporary Applied Art), in occasion of its opening in November 2006. During the preparation of the event it was needed to translate the sound of IKIJAZZ in images; hence the idea of Pepé Verdino – photographer, dj and multimedia producer in the independent scene, to create a moving scenography based on fades and live shots, which suggests the importance of experimenting and therefore of contamination.
