Where do you go when you've reached the final frontier? - Back home!
It's only when you get back home you really can put things into
perspective, and that's how the story of Brassmonkey begin.
We would have loved to bring you the California version of it all,
'cause in some ways you could truthfully claim that it started in sunny
LA, but it wasn't until founding member Thom Carfors got back home to
Sweden and dug his toes into the Scandinavian soil that Brassmonkey was
really born.
Fuelled by 5 years of struggling to make it on the Los Angeles' rock
scene and with a growing discontempt with the same, Thom started to
envisage a new band and a new sound. In many ways inspired by his
bruised Californian dreams but at the same time driven and stripped
down to it's Scandinavian core.Thom started to gather thoughts, episodes, events and recollections
of´numerous colorful characters he'd met during his stay in LA.
Whatever was at hand, napkins, receipts and even toilet paper in need
were scribbled on.
Once back in Sweden, Brassmonkey was formed and the debut album "BM"
was recorded and released soon after. The sound was raw and down to
earth with an energy that really showed the band's new found love for
making music.
A few years later, album number two "Out In The Sun" was released.
Together with producer Roberto Laghi they took a more experimental
route this time and this effort resulted in a much more eclectic and
dynamic affair than it's predecessor.
Fast forward;
All though it's been a while since their latest release the evolution
of Brassmonkey is proceeding. New songs are written and recorded as we
speak with a release planned for the near future.
