Ever used to tape your favorite songs off the radio? Don't be shy! This was when you didn't have internet and all you wanted to do was listen to your favorite songs over and over again. That’s how I got started in radio, by just taping music from radio shows. My interest grew over the years and now I’m a successful gradate from the top College for Communication Arts in Ontario, Seneca College from the Radio Broadcast program.
In addition to my studies I also worked on campus with the Seneca Student Federation which equipped me with excellent time management skills multi-tasking abilities and strong work ethics. As a dedicated volunteer, I possess a strong energy and an ability to quickly build rapport with others. Currently I volunteer with CIUT 89.5 on the Gospel Music Machine . There I have been able to demonstrate an ability to learn, grow and take initiative.
Although all of this may sound great! It took a lot, passion and drive to get where I am today. I never knew I had it in me. I started off at Humber College, I figure everything would just fall in my lap and I would do great in life. When I realized I was unsuccessful in my first term, I went to my coordinator/Prof for advice. And he said these words to me “Radio is not for you, try something else". When those words left his mouth I knew it was on! From that day on, I challenged myself to reach for the stars, and not only that but to do exceptionally well at what I put my hands on. Over the past two years I have, been Promotions Manager for S@Y Radio (on-campus radio), interned with Newstalk 1010 FM (The most listened to talk radio in Toronto), SMILE Mentor for new students, and one of the highlights of my life, volunteering in Jamaica for two weeks with children! Upon Graduation I was nominated for the most prestigious award given from Seneca College "The Seneca Cup Awards".
I'm ready for a new challenge both spiritually and Intellectually. Media has a new name to embrace "Vybelle" other wise known as Colette Daley. Right now I have some projects up my sleeve so look out for it! I'm up for the challenge and I'm totally open to anyone who is willing to take me aboard their thriving team.
