Due to the overwhelming force that is peer pressure, I am now officially on Facebook and will no longer be updating my profile. It's kind of a bittersweet moment for me, as I've been through so much with Myspace. From the persistent Match.com ads trying to lure me to their site with the promise of speaking to "hot" women, to some kid from Flordia telling me I'm gay for liking Bob Dylan, to the numerous friend requests from spam sites posing as attention-starved 14-year-old girls wearing nothing but bras and thongs, to "Myspying" people from high school, it's been real. As social networking continues to amass more and more popularity, and actual communication continues to dwindle to the point where people won't want to know anything about anyone if it doesn't fit into a Twitter entry, know that I will be there, doing my part, as this generation continues down this potentially harmful path of "e-volution." A grim and pessimistic thought? Absolutely -- but what can I say? Peer pressure's a funny thing.
