Cory Brown Is he a product of his environment or not?C Brown the Canadian born was raised in the rough streets of the Jane and Finch area. He was constantly surrounded by gang wars and constant violence. Instead of choosing this path of destruction that the people around him was taking he decided to take the path least traveled.Cory is one of five (5) children from former singer Sedrick Brown of Rocking Moments. Singing was already in his blood, so when he decided to take on this endeavor for life it didn't come as a shock to anyone who knew him. This however didn't come along until later in his life. After he completed his GED, he did the entrepreneurship as a barber from home for six years and he did 14 years at Nappys hair place. After which he decided to go into business for himself again.Singing came naturally for Cory, whether it was hereditary or from him being a fast learner, he definitely had a knack for singing. He started at the age of 5 and then later and it continued throughout his life. Even while he was a barber, he used to uplift his clients with his serenading voice. His musical styling is that of an R&B flavor incorporated with Hip Hop and Reggae. C Brown has had the please of working with many greats in the industry such as Luciano, Half Pint and Frankie Paul, just to name a few. By putting a fresh new spin on the old way of singing, Cory has set himself apart from the other new and emerging artist.C Brown was with the group H.O.D when they release the hit single, “Woman of God” in 2005. They received a nomination for the single, at Columbia University in 2005 at the International Reggae World Music award in New York City. The next year C Brown, being the individual that he is and the constant quest that he is on to fulfill a higher need to answer to a higher calling he launched his solo career in 2006 with the hit, “Crybaby.”His positive and conscious lyrics are derived from his outlook on life. He believes in providing music to uplift the poor and to educate and inform the youths of today of a better tomorrow, to be educated and to enjoy the life changing sounds of good music. There is a lot of consistency in his lyrical content and the consciousness of his songs.These are a few of the factor that shows Cory”C.Brown”Browns’ dominance and sets him apart from the pack.
