You can find us situated on the the south side of the River Wear, just down from the Quayside Exchange and opposite the university halls of residence.
Built in the early 19th century, it housed a ‘smithy’ making ships chains and anchors, which then became a store for holding goods ‘ in bond' - hence it's current name.
After falling into disrepair and extensive fire damage, it was repaired by English Heritage ensuring that a lot of its original features were kept intact.
The Bonded’s special features include:-
