Sounds Like:
"Big, bold electric and slide guitar playing, some rustic harmonica and,
of course, the lap steel playing that is quickly defining the man as a
force to be reckoned with. Son's vocal style is earthy and relaxed, the perfect vehicle to deliver his tales of love won and lost"
Lisa Monroe, Southwest Blues Magazine
"We headed upstairs to the auditorium in time for the main stage program, which began with the Son Henry Band. Son heralds from Alaska and is now living in Scotland from where he has recruited a powerful rhythm section. Together they have formed a unique sound, mainly down to Son's first choice of instrument, the lap steel guitar. The Blues they played were authentic stomping down and dirty and the slide threw in a different dynamic, at times having the force of a sledgehammer and at others a melodic subtlety. A couple of highlights were Muddy's 'I Can't Be Satisfied' and a stunning rendition of 'Voodoo Chile'. We must get to see them again."
Tony Winfield and Sue Hickling, Blues Matters! MAgazine
"The Son Henry Band is the best blues band in the world right now; Son himself is a master trailblazer in some of the dirtiest, skankiest, holiest hot rod of a lap-steel guitar anyone has a right to hear. "
Radio Enigma, Alberta, Canada
"One of the hidden gems of British Blues"
BluesMatters! Magazine
"A virtuoso of the lap steel guitar"
BluesMatters! Magazine
"Solo, with an intimate audience, he really came into his own. His knack for holding an audience with his storytelling reflected in his songwriting"
BluesMatters! Magazine
"Son Henry plays with an acute feel for the rhythms and anger of the delta, in turns subtle and ferocious, hollering and stomping to the eerie call of the bottleneck"
CDbaby
"Son Henry is the consummate front man"
Blues in Britain
"Friday night roared to life with the Son Henry Band"
Blues in Britain
"Friday nights show peaked when Son Henry took the stage"

"Talent, stage presence and authenticity"
The Orkadian
"That boy sure can play the guitar, sure can"
Blues Legend Robert Ealey
"As with the very best of all blues, his songs deal with everyday
life, love and relationships. Damn this man for writing 'Second Glance'.
Its desperation and resignation hit me so hard every time I hear it that
funny watery stuff comes to my eyes. It scares me when someone details
the longings of my soul before I've even defined them myself. Son is good
at that- VERY good"
Southwest Blues Magazine
"As if an unnatural union between Howlin' Wolf and Creedence miraculously gave birth to the band."
RenÈ Malines
"Son took the audience through a journey from Delta acoustic blues, up to Chicago on his electric guitar and his acoustic lap steel guitar, of which is a master player. The new song Sackcloth and Ashes which was played on the lap steel and will be on his forthcoming new album brought the Legion to a standstill. You could have heard a pin drop in the room as the notes just dripped from Son's guitar and filled the room. The crowd were rewarded with an encore at the end of the set as a thank you for their appreciation."
