Mr. Riz is the freshest talent to break through from the Urban Asian scene, combining together the rawness of hiphop with the smooth melodies of RnB.Born and raised in East London, it was Riz' older brother's love of soul and rock bands that sparked his interest in music. A self-confessed fanatic of 80s rock group Marillion and producers Quincy Jones and Jam & Lewis, Riz' obsession with music led him to become drummer in his school band. It was from drumming that he naturally leaned toward hiphop music and the boom bap of its drums. Acquiring a vast knowledge of music by searching out all the "breaks" used in 90s hiphop records, Riz saved up his money for an MPC 2000XL drum machine and began making his own music.At first a rapper and producer in the UK hip hop scene, Riz had only messed around with singing as child doing Micheal Jackson impressions for friends and family. It wasn't until he met Sona Family founding members Usmaan and Harry Sona in early 2002 that he started to taking singing seriously. Soon Mr. Riz was singing hooks and spitting raps on all the crew's songs and lending his skills to production in the Trailblazerz.
