Carpe Noctem was formed in november 2005 by close friends Andri (guitar), Alexander (vocals) and Helgi (drums) after months of contemplations regarding partnership of a project of this kind. Helgi had played in previous bands such as Genocide and Thunder Lesbians whilst Andri and Alexander had played in an untitled band along with Björn (bass) and Þormar (guitar) who soon were recruited to Carpe Noctem. However Þormar didn..t seem to possess the same ambition for the project as opposed to the others so the band therefore parted ways with him. Instead of recruiting a another guitarist, the band decided to remain a quartet building on strong riffs and powerful basslines. Since that time Carpe Noctem..s sound has changed and evolved, getting blacker, stronger and more experimental. In 2007 Carpe Noctem began experimenting with recording their music, but started all over again in 2008 with new material and better sound. Carpe Noctem recorded and released the demo 'Myrkraverk' by their own accord in 2008, but at that time Björns interest seemed to have fainted, so amicably the band split with him and added a new member, TMS (guitar). Early spring 2009, Carpe Noctem recorded another demo ..Föstudagurinn langi.. which was directly released via Carpe Noctem..s Myspace page and is to serve more as a promo of the bands new material, which will be recorded in studio later in 2009. Carpe Noctem is currently writing new material as well as playing gigs and looking for a bassist.
