Zealots Bulletin was formed in 2003. The band was noted as a raw sound grunge band and its social activism philosophy and lyrics. The band performed in various gigs or events such as Music Reunion Gig 2 and 3, Notthatbalai Art Fest and Street Roar Mini Gig. In 2005, the vocalist as well as the guitarist Yi Zhong left his former band mates, looking to start the band again with new breath. Yi Zhong was impressed by Tat, the front man of Nao. Tat called and drafted Yi Zhong to become the vocalist of a brand new Zealots Bulletin and convinced Tat’s soul mate Junnu to join as bassist. Shortly after forming, they gave their first public performance in DASEIN College, bringing only with two songs, The Parliament Riot and The Unknown Creature. Months later, Zealots Bulletin performed in Penang for a gig called Shock Attack. On the eve of 2006, the band performed in MCPA theatre for Music Reunion Gig 3. Integral to their identity as a band, Zealots Bulletin voice the dissatisfaction of social injustices, disintegrations, human rights exploitations, failure of education system while these viewpoints highly critical of the domestic and foreign policies of the Malaysian Government. Throughout its existence, Zealots Bulletin and its individual members participated in political protests and other activism to advocate these beliefs. The band primarily saw its music as a vehicle for social activism.
