The White Claws World Drumming Group started as a way for friends and like minded people to explore the rhythmic possibilities that abound within the various cultures of the world. Being spawned from the dregs of the SCA, and with a love for belly dance and rhythm, various people (accomplished musicians and beginning musicians) came together in an attempt to basically quell the dire encroachment of boredom if not find something to do to keep us out of jail.
Through extraneous research and immersion into the various rhythmic cultures of the world, we have tried to bring forth a unique and powerful percussive sound that fuses together the best of what world drumming has to offer.
Our primary purpose is to have fun, to relax. Our secondary purpose is to share our art and our craft with the people whether for profit or not. Our tertiary objective is to enlighten and teach others so as to appreciate the unique aspects of rhythm, as well as the cultures from which various rhythmic ideologies are drawn. The White Claws currently supply live music for a myriad of dancers and dance troupes in the greater Phoenix area.
