Relational aggression is a type of bullying, covert in nature, manipulative and cruel. It's a psychological and emotional form of abuse, using relationships to inflict injury upon another. It's characterized by gossip, teasing, slander and exclusion, and it's mean.
"Mean Girls" are not just the way girls are.
But we aren't all "Sugar 'n Spice" either.
I'm Demian " DreamSinger ", singer/songwriter, human rights activist and author. Relational aggression is a problem, but it is not the definition of what it means to be female.
I believe in my sisters, and it's because I believe in us and have experienced the depth and beauty of women's friendships, that I am committed to dealing with the ways we can hurt each other.
Relational aggression has a negative impact on everyone involved, including the aggressors. When you're in the line of fire though, you can feel very much alone.
You're not alone. Most of us have experienced relational aggression to whatever degree. We can be here for each other.
Part of my work as an activist is the empowerment of women and girls. My music and books reflect that. I want to share my gifts with you, and look forward to receiving your insights and experience in ways that are right for you.
