I'd like to meet:
Young Leadership Division (Young Magbit) works along side the Magbit Foundation, whose goal is not only to contribute to the education of Jews worldwide, but also to raise awareness and create a sense on solidarity in the Young Jewish Community of Los Angeles and to foster their connection to the State of Israel. The Young Leadership Division has several events each year including Educational Seminars, Mixers and Formal Receptions, which promote the Jewish identity while serving as a catalyst for young professionals to network among their peers.
The Magbit Foundation was established in 1990 to support our Israeli brothers and sisters. This assistance is provided under a unique concept; called "The Magbit Jewish Fund Students Loan Program." It is in the form of interest-free loans and scholarships granted to more than 500 students a year, studying at selected universities in Israel. However, the Magbit Foundation has also been there when Israel needed help on othe fronts. In 2004 Israel provided funds for victims of terrorism and their families.
The Young Leadership Division of Magbit thrives on the dedication of its volunteers and board members. Our most notable annual events have included in the past, the RED Party and our annual JokeFest. The Magbit Foundation was established in 1990 to promote education in the State of Israel for students seeking to complete their university studies.
To accomplish this worthwhile goal, Magbit established an innovative “Interest-Free Loan†program for deserving and qualified students. This program was designed to preserve the dignity and spirit of the students, as well to instill in them a sense of responsibility. The loan recipients repay the loans when they are financially able to do so. The loan repayments go directly to the student’s university so that future generations of students may also benefit from these funds.
To date, Magbit has provided interest free loans to over 7,000 qualified students in universities throughout Israel, such as Bar-Ilan University, Ben Gurion University, Jerusalem College of Technology, Hadassah College Jerusalem, Haifa University, Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, Tel–Hai College and Tel- Aviv University.
This program has proven to be so successful that some universities in Israel have modified their scholarship programs to emulate Magbit’s “interest-free loan†concept.
In addition to helping students through the “Interest-Free Loan†program, Magbit also helps Israel through grants and other fundraising activities. Most notably, in 2002, Magbit contributed over $1 million directly to Israel’s victims of terror.
