I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Astronomy consumes me as do horses of every sort. We have about 100 critters here including horses, ponies, mini horses, dogs, cats, llamas, donkeys and a calf named Hamburger. The whole family is animal people. Our ranch is a little less than 50 acres which means we can grow hay (and do). Central Oregon is our home and I can't imagine living anywhere else (except when the pipes freeze or we need to chop the frozen water in the animal troughs!).

My dog, Rand McNally, named for what I have done for work, transport horses, misses me when I leave for any time. He's too big to travel with for long distances. What was I thinking when I told the breeder I wanted the biggest male in the litter???

Brianna is now in the sixth grade. Bri is a good solid AVERAGE student. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not sure WHAT she is going to do this year for extra-curricular activities. She does want to do 4-H horse AND 4-H rabbit next year. Right now she's hot to trot about being a "goldfish breeder".
My wife is on the computer -- a lot. She spends a great deal of time reading, discussing and advising about little horses and After Death Communication. She's planning a book on ADC's from pets (but plainning is the operative word--haven't seen much progress). NOW, she's a part of MySpace. She is addicted to blogging (oops, my fault, I think! :o)

The night sky draws me--it's mystical and full of surprises. I am going to try and write a weekly blog about stuff that is up there. Even in the cold of winter (and especially in the cold of winter) there is much to see and do.

We spend a great deal of our time with our horses. We've worked long and hard to develop a herd and a "look" that is both satisfying to us and others as well. The horses we raise are well put together and pleasing to the eye. The horse market is slow now and we have about 15 babies from this year to sell. I wish we were actively showing but that's not in the cards.Little Horse with Big Dreams

Computer Weirdness

I know all of us spend a good bit of time on our computers.  They are marvelous machines.  I also know that most of us have spent more than a little time cussing at our computers because they "break" ...

Another loss...

Right now it's 15 degrees warmer than it was at this time yesterday.  Considering that it's only 33 right now, you can imagine how cold it was yesterday morning and most of the mornings last week.  I ...

ANOTHER Mishmash but at least I'm writing ;-)

This morning there was a full moon peering at me when I awoke around 5:30.  It was marvelous to see the full moon and the sunrise at the same time...although it was 23 degrees out there.  I have heard...

Horses, horses, horses

I mentioned a couple of days ago that Bri's horse, Beau, bucked her off at the last play day they attended.  Bri hasn't fallen off her horse very often.  Beau is such a great horse, he takes good care...
