About Me

CDs are available on CD BABY .
HanaLyn is a spoken word artist/poet, actress, and singer. Born in Baltimore, she moved to NYC after graduating high school. In NY, she learned valuable survival lessons, including the importance of "rice and beans, and rice and beans, and rice and beans, and..."
HanaLyn performed in Off-off Broadway shows, worked as a singing waitress at Ellen's Starlight Diner on Broadway, and featured at Dillon's in her own cabaret showcase across from Studio 54. On her first night in NY, she placed 3rd in the NY Poets' slam at the legendary CBGB's. From there, she quickly carved out a niche for herself on the spoken word scene from Harlem to the Village to Queens, where Kool Breeze and RL tha Gifted 1 nicknamed her "The Blonde Bombshell." She is also a Big Mouth Bout champion.
Now home in Baltimore, HanaLyn continues to write and perform. Over the past year and a half, she has acted in the following plays in the Baltimore/DC area: Over the River, Months on End, The Women and Amahl and the Night Visitors. She is a regular at The Haven, Warm Wednesdays, the Yabba Pot, and BE FREE Fridays. She has featured at the Sylvan Beach Cafe, the Yabba Pot, the Haven, and Notre Maison, and opened for the 5th L at their Signs of the Times concert.

HanaLyn tackles the complex issues of love, sex, race, and cultural bigotry in her poetry. She has been called the "Anita Baker of Spoken Word" because of her take on relationships in her poems.
Her long-anticipated first cd, Between the Lines, was released Jan 20th when she featured at The Art of Conversation. The cd is available for purchase. Contact HanaLyn ([email protected]) or check it out on Radio4Real.com
