Calley Bliss

About Me

..
Releasing her first original EP in summer of 2009, Calley Bliss is new to the original music scene, but is hardly a newcomer. After growing up around Minneapolis, MN, she acquired her training in jazz voice from the acclaimed University of North Texas jazz program, before coming to New York. After five years of study and performance around Dallas/Fort Worth, Calley said goodbye to her comfortable steady gigs and freelance work, and hello to the big apple. As an artist, she’s been compared to the likes of Sade, Peggy Lee, and Joss Stone. As a working musician she’s done everything from studio work to wedding bands and back-up vocals; sung top 40’s, pop, swing, jazz, rock, and soul. She currently works with Maryland-based Severn Records artists, as part of a resident back-up vocal duo with Baltimore/D.C. singer Karla Chisholm. With Severn, she has played various blues festivals around the United States, and recorded on four different artists’ albums, all with release dates TBD. With her own original music project Calley has gained a following and regularly plays around New York, as well as occasional national and international venues. Calley’s debut solo album, entitled “Pigeon-Holed” is set for release fall of 2009, with an EP to be released over the summer.
