Don Medina was raised on the south side of Chicago. He officially began exploring his creative music interest first at the age of 13 when a close friend began teaching him how to DJ. Shortly after that at age 15, he got his first taste of what creating a record and being in the studio was like when he was asked to come in and scratch on a record. This was the beginning of something riveting and special. During his early years in the studio his only interest was learning how operate everything in the studio. He would take home manual after manual and then come back to the studio for hands-on personal and instructed tutelage. This was so fun and exciting to him, so much that he began skipping football and then baseball practice just to be in the studio tinkering around. As he continued to develop his understanding of the high end recording gear that was in the studio the owner and another in-house engineer producer began to notice that he had a good ear and they were also astonished how quickly he understood and could operate the everything in the studio. You must know that this was in 1985 all during his sophomore year in high school. Midi was just fresh on the scene and he introduced it to the guys at the studio. They had no need Midi because they were accomplished musicians, who had worked with the like of Earth, Wind & Fire, The Staple Singers, Ohio Players, Minnie Riperton among others. He taught himself sampling, midi sequencing, digital editing, drum programming, and later with the assistance of a mentor learned how to play the keyboards. Now, 23 years later, guess what? Don Medina has become a hire gun to the industry elite in regards to all aspect of music production. He has worked with the likes of Young Jeezy, R. Kelly, Jermaine Dupri, Manuel Seal Jr., trained Producer Don P of Trillvile, Cherish, The Legendary Grand Master Caz, Busy Bee, Chuck D., Slick Pulla, Gansta Boo, Akon, LeToya, Ann Nesby, Twista, Jimmy Ruffin and a host of other artists.
