Mars 96 (R.I.P. 2006-2007)

About Me

MARS 96 operated under a very simple philosophy; make the music you want to hear and others will want to hear it too. What began as five strangers answering a MySpace classified turned into a year of constructive music making. Mars 96 played to enthusiastic crowds in Long Island, Brooklyn, and NYC. Highlights included a set at the famous Knitting Factory, and being a part of the burgeoning indie rock scene at various venues in Brooklyn. Mars 96 endured a revolving door of members, each bringing their own spin on established songs. The band responded well to the pressure of having shows booked during stressful times of transition. But when faced with repeating this process again, the band decided to call it quits. The band values the friendships made with everyone who was a part of this experiment. In its tumultuous existence, Mars 96 wrote inspired music, garnered indie label interest and won over new fans with every show. The band thanks their loyal fans and fellow bands for an unforgettable experience.
