About Rick Richter

It is not long ago when Rick Richter began to get interested in the world of electronic music and playing records. In 2004 he tried mixing for the first time, using some unknown hip-hop and dance records from a former friend of him. After listening to almost all the records his friend owned, Rick Richter eventually spotted a Cocoon Compilation that probably lead him to what would be his most important passion a few years later. Thereafter he bought his first own house records at a Record Store in Darmstadt. After a while Rick Richter got more and more influenced by electronic music and started playing for hours together with his friend Simon K during night-time.

In 2005 Rick Richter moved, for the period of seven months, to Cape Town in South Africa, which was a fantastic and valuable source of inspiration. And furthermore Rick Richter had been given the chance to experience African Clublife, especially when he got asked to play at a small club in Cape Town Central.

Packed with all the new inspiration and experiences he came back to Germany where he visited Cocoon Club, while Richie Hawtin was playing one of his amazing sets. From now on Rick Richter continually catched up with what Hawtin’s label Minus is planning and producing. Hence he changed his style from electro house to some kind of experimental minimalistic but still groovy jazzy techno, with identifying features of the Minus style.

Until May 2007 Rick Richter has spend plenty of time, having private mixing sessions together with friends and playing at a few clubs in and close to Darmstadt and Frankfurt, yet without any perspective for more. Nevertheless there was an important turning point in Rick Richter’s DJ career, as he met Pierre Morgan on a private party he played on May the 1st. Feeling confident about Rick’s understanding of electronic music, a close friendship has been developed.

After the first gig together with Pierre Morgan, the relation took its next step when Rick Richter got Resident DJ of Pierre Morgan’s project WILD HOUSE – the secret party society, including a number of gigs at the lounge of former PRODO X in Darmstadt, which had been renamed into WILD HOUSE LOUNGE. Playing as Resident at the Wild House Events, Rick Richter was pleased to spin records with DJ’s such as SEBBO, DJ Tanith, Andy Düx & Holgi Star aka Holger Nielson. Unfortunately the WILD HOUSE Event-Series at the former PRODO X was cancelled already in December 2007.

Up from now, Rick Richter got more involved into Pierre Morgan’s project and established together with him an electronic music party community – a family that is constantly growing. Furthermore Rick Richter had been given the opportunity to play at some well known clubs, such as the Groove Club in Gelsenkirchen or at the unique CAVE CLUB in Salzburg/Austria. Today Rick Richter works with Native Instruments’ Traktor Scratch in combination with the usual 12 Inch vinyls. He tries continuously to be up to date with all the new technological inventions, soft- and hardware, not to forget all the new releases and productions. Probably in the beginning of next year Rick Richter will release his first production, as well as a production together with Pierre Morgan.

Apart from Rick Richter’s nocturnal activity as a DJ, he is co-owner of the advertising agency “Werbeagentur Richter & Partner! The agency offers a coordinated and balanced support, putting all the concentration on the clients needs e.g. the development of Corporate Identities for Companies in Europe, designing any kind of Print Media and building homepages for example in the New Media section. Richter & Partner provides a creative framework that is extremely auxiliary not only for the variety of the advertisements, but also provides an incentive for new ideas referred to the music production and the organization of extraordinary Wild House events.
