My name is Michael Anthony Osouna, better known as Sugar Aloes. I am a calypsonian. Many people mistake my voice for that of my contemporary, The Baron, and that is a true testament to how sweet my voice really is. I am known for my suave suits on stage and my gold adornments.
My career started in 1979 in the Young Brigade Tent, where I harnessed my skills at belting out sweet tunes. I am most famous for my commentary on the Dimanche Gras stage, lamenting the social, political and economic wrongs of my country, Trinidad and Tobago and paying tribute to the pioneers of calypso, kaiso and pan. I am no stranger to competitions, and I won the Calypso Crown in 2002 with my renditions of Contribution and Jubilation Time.
Some of my more famous tunes are Signs of the End of Times, 24Hrs, Ish, I Plead the Fifth, Time, Love Loves Nobody, Dis Stage is Mine, Soca is Meh Baby and I Love Being Me.
