The Buddha compared the universe to a vast net woven of a countless variety of brilliant jewels, each with a countless number of facets.Each jewel reflects in itself every other jewel in the net and is, in fact, one with every other jewel.

Arabic cuisine delights the gourmet, and feasting is a preoccupation not only of Jordan, but of the Middle East as a whole. In culinary terms, the Middle East enjoys one of the world's most sophisticated and elaborate cuisines, and are rated among the finest foods in the world. Dishes will even satisfy the health conscious because many of them are made with grain, cheese, yogurt, fresh and dried fruits and vegetables. With the use of these grains and vegetables, meat goes a long way and even the simplest ingredients can produce a surprisingly attractive creation. Jordan's cuisine, although unique, is part of this distinctive culinary heritage, which have been savored for well over a thousand years.~

I have, therefore, chosen this time and this place to discuss a topic on which ignorance too often abounds and the truth is too rarely perceived - yet it is the most important topic on earth: world peace.
What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.

Joseph Campbell's
Ten Commandments
for Reading Mythology
1
Read myths with the eyes of wonder:
the myths transparent to their universal meaning,
their meaning transparent to its mysterious source.
2
Read myths in the present tense:
Eternity is now.
3
Read myths in the first person plural:
the Gods and Goddesses of ancient mythology
still live within you.
4
Any myth worth its salt exerts a powerful magnetism.
Notice the images and stories
that you are drawn to and repelled by.
Investigate the field of associated images and stories.
5
Look for patterns;
don't get lost in the details.
What is needed is not more specialized scholarship,
but more interdisciplinary vision.
Make connections;
break old patterns of parochial thought.
6
Resacralize the secular:
even a dollar bill reveals
the imprint of Eternity.
7
If God is everywhere,
then myths can be generated
anywhere, anytime, by anything.
Don't let your Romantic aversion to
science blind you to the Buddha in the computer chip.
8
Know your tribe!
Myths never arise in a vacuum;
they are the connective tissue of the social body
which enjoys synergistic relations
with dreams (private myths)
and rituals (the enactment of myth).
9
Expand your horizons!
Any mythology worth remembering
will be global in scope.
The earth is our home
and humankind is our family.
10
Read between the lines!
Literalism kills;
Imagination quickens.
