Ori Raz

Israeli born, drummer, arranger, musical producer Ori Raz, started playing the drums (and piano) at the age of 6. Having been exposed, as a child, to the musical background and collection of his dad, Trumpeter Amos Raz, combined with his own aspirations, pushed him towards a unique and versatile musical path.Ori acquired his musical education from local legends such as "A'hrale" Kaminsky (Manhattan Transfer), David Rich (student of Joe Morello), Alex Weiss(theory and harmony), and later at Musicians Institute (MI), Los Angeles, where he graduated with Honors, from Ralph Humphrey (Zappa), Kirk Covington (Tribal Tech, Joe Zawinul), Joe Porcaro, Richie “Gajate” Garcia (Phil Collins, Sting, Tito Puente), Efrain Toro (latin legend), Carl Schroeder (John Lee Hooker, Sarah Vaughan), Jeff Berlin and others.Having worked with many great artists worldwide, in a variety of musical styles, has made him a versatile all-around musician and drummer.To name just a few of the groups, musicians and albums Ori has been involved with internationally:Bunk Gardner (Zappa), Kelly Orlando (KO), Juliet Annerino, Noy’s big band and others - LA.The Cafe Wha house band - NY.Synergia (co-initiated), Kele 6, Humphrey’s Sispence, D'Funk (formed), Avishai Cohen, Arik Niceberg, Guy Levy, Jes Koren, Lazy Gordon, Yair Laron, Ronen Tat, Ran Zamir, Eran Badinery, Gidi Hertz, Kaya Cherny, Ari Erev, Anat Levy-Raz, Mel Rozenberg, Beit Zvi musicals and many others - Tel Aviv, Israel.Venues and occasions in which Ori performed include: LA’s Roxy Theatre, Baked Potato, Atlas, Twin Palm, Lava Lounge, etc. New York - Café WHA. London - Clubs & Theatre. Israel – TV (Music 24, Channel 2, 10), Barbi, Festivals (“Bereshit”, "Coca Cola", “Sratim Mikan”, etc.), Jerusalem & Ramat-Gan theatres, and more…Albums recently released include “Dictionary of the Soul” - Humphrey’s Sispence (Haarmonic Tree - 2006); “Zoakim Al Ahava”, “Hom July August” and video clips - Synergia (Hed Artzi - 2005).Ori has been teaching drums and percussion for many years, combining he's learning methodologies and musical expertise into a unique teachind experience. Currently teaching private and at "Hed" contemporary music school, Tel Aviv.
