'All That Moves'........a step back in time with a modern twist.
Mondelle's earliest memories are sitting on the potty listening to the radio station playing Diana Ross and the Supremes, Ella Fitzgerald singing "that old black magic" and Doris Day, in that order, and what struck her the most was Ella Fitzgerald vocal sound. Mondelle has done quite a bit of session work. As a child, she also enjoyed the voices of Cilla Black, Dionne Warick, Sandie Shaw and Dusty Springfield, to name but a few. At the time, her mum's cousin was living with the family, he had a band, and his room was permanantly set up for rehersals, on various occasions before the rest of the band arrived, he would play his guitar and Mondelles mother would sing. Mondelle remembers listening to her singing 'Rocks Of Ages', a classic amongst church music, it struck a feeling in her young heart, and stangely moved her. The stirings of her mother vocals and the words have never left her, and thats the same feelings Mondelle getsgreat songs. Being the eldest of five children it was a while before all the siblings joined in so Mondelle would be entertaining family and friends. Alongside her brothers and sister, they nicknamed themselves 'the Jackson Five's cousins', and no one disbelieved them at all. Motown was a major influence at the time and Smokey Robinsons 'Tears Of A Clown'. was a favourite. With a mother that sounded like a female Bob Marley, it was no surprise that reggae played a big part in her life. The house was always full of bluebeat ska music which she intends to continue with soon. and also the artists that featured on Trojan Records. Having been bought a piano at the age of 12, Mondelle began to write songs, and short stories which were often read out by the class teacher. At school, she sang in school concerts and became part of a vocal group, and was also influenced by the power of the backing vocals on the tracks of 70s-80's rocker, the fantastic T-Rex, and also greatly admired the works of Edith Piaf, the little French powerhouse vocalist, who had the same intensity as Judy Garland in diliverance....Loved the glamour of Hollywood musicals, and the iconic black women of the day Bessie Smith, Sarah Vanghan, again so many hero's.....Mondelle became a professional singer at the age of 13, and joined a Lover's Rock group in the early Eighties. Since then, she has collaborated with various songwriters and producers. Mondelle is artistic she is also clothes designer, graphic artist and an actor. Mondelle also enjoyed a little jamming session with Stevie Vann Lange and Lee Ryan, at Stevies' private party. Stevies vocal talents also feature on 'All That Moves' and ' Instead'. Mondelle is at present working with Kate Young a well known Music Director in Theatre Production a rarity in the male dominated industry. Mondelle has been volunteering her services to the registered charity, B.A.C.D.P.A/ TFM Health for thirteen years, and is now the Chairperson. Most of the work is research, focusing on sickle cell anemia, and the health well-being of the body.Mondelle says 'There is always light so shine.
