As a worship leader, Sarah Walker has been serving The Meeting House family of churches in Oakville, Ontario, Canada for over 11 years. The Meeting House is the fastest growing church in Canada. While serving in this alive and growing community, Sarah's passion for drawing people to authentic relationships with Jesus has grown exponentially. And as a songwriter, Sarah has developed a profound gift for using music to communicate God's heart.
Sarah sees worship as both a prelude and postlude to living lives of justice:
"If we are truly reaching out for God's heart in our worship we cannot help but be changed in every way. It starts first with understanding how deeply He loves us. And as we seek Him from that place of unconditional love, we will also start to grasp His heart for the poor and the needy, the suffering and the oppressed.
When we awaken to God's heart and the world is this way, how can we help but be moved to ACTION? Worshiping a loving God is not meant to lull us into comfort but rather compel us to live lives of justice and mercy as the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
We are only able to love because He first loved us. It's the overflow of the love He pours into us that becomes our lives of worship and justice. So we sing as we seek God and we also sing as we celebrate all that He is doing in the world. Worship truly brings us full circle back to the One who is at the centre of it all."
Sarah is currently working on a worship album and is privileged to be working with some amazing folks like Michael Chaves (guitartist for Brooke Fraser, Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer), Aaron Sterling (drummer for Matt Kearney, Brooke Fraser, Brenton Brown) and soon-to-be-famous piano player/producer Nathan Finochio and his partner David Kuwabara. Watch for updates on the CD release coming in 2009!
Sarah's song "Overflow" was featured as Track 1 on Saddleback's 2007 SongSeeker CD. Her song "King of Glory" co-written with Craig Douglas was featured on CMC's 2008 release "Sea to Sea: The Voice of Creation."
