Born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania.Attended Penn State University (1975-1980) Theater Arts program.
Emphasis on acting, directing and playwriting (Harry Nolan, 1980 PSU production).A.K.A. Stew Dent, WDFM "new wave" disc jockey (1979-1980).Began music career while living in Boston, Mass. (1980-1983).
Performed improvisational guitar with Doug Healy, Craig Whitman, Gene Thompson.Moved to Seattle (1983), founded Reciprocal Recording with partner Tina Casale (1984).
Clients included THE ACCUSED, THE REJECTORS, GREEN RIVER, COVEN.Established C/Z Records (1985), released DEEP SIX compilation and MELVINS 7" (1986).Started Reciprocal Recording ..2 (A.K.A. "the grunge factory") with JACK ENDINO (1986) and later added RICH HINKLIN (1987).
Clients included dozens, perhaps hundreds of bands including NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, MUDHONEY, TAD, BUNDLE OF HISS, BLOOD CIRCUS, LIAR'S CLUB, FAITH AND DISEASE, WEATHER THEATER, PURE JOY to name a very few.Closed Reciprocal in 1991, opened Hanzsek Audio (1993-2005) a year later. Over a 13 year period this studio saw hundreds of bands and solo artists of all genres as well as numerous engineers and producers including JACK ENDINO, KURT BLOCH, MELL DETTMER, SCOTT ROSS, PETE GERRALD, PHIL ECK, TROY SWANSON and many others.Currently operating as Hanzsek A/V (est. 2005) in Snohomish, WA. This facility serves as my base of operations for mobile recording and music production, CD mastering, DVD authoring and video post-production.
