What: Philly Sound Clash is an annual competition and showcase of local Philadelphia bands and musical acts. At the culmination of the contest is a massive concert style event held at the World Café Live where the best unsigned acts in the greater Philadelphia area will perform. Philly Sound Clash operates in several forms and transcends the conventional concert while redefining the structure of a traditional “battle of the bands.”
Here's the idea: 12 local bands. 12 songs. 1 CD of Philadelphia music. So if you're a guitar-picking, drum-beating, ivory-tickling, record-scratching, horn-blowing musician in the greater Philadelphia area, log on to www.phillysoundclash.org and submit three songs by January 31st. Based on user votes we'll select 12 tracks for a compilation CD to be distributed all over Philadelphia! We'll also pick the best 6 bands to battle it out at the Philly Sound Clash at World Café Live on February 21st, 2008. The best band wins the Grand Prize!...So, for all of you non-musician types, this is where you come in. Rock out to Philly's Best local music, have some fun and enjoy the show. (4-5 songs dependent on the complexity of instrumentation) 250 Full-color artist posters (graphic design services included) 50 Promotional copies of the E.P. recording Your hit single on 5,000+ compilation CDs including free distribution all around Philadelphia. Distribution includes CDs for the taking in all PhillyCarShare cars (innumerable impressions), giveaways at events and possible distribution through partnerships with a variety of retail locations (at no point will these CDs be sold for profit -profit from sales will be used towards pressing more CDs to increase the compilation's distribution count in Philadelphia). Band Submissions:
DO YOU QUALIFY?
First, you have to be local artist in the greater metropolitan Philadelphia area and not signed onto a major label or an affiliate of a major label.
Second, you must have enough material to perform a 45 minute set.
Third, you must have three quality recordings to demo your band (if chosen, the exact track will be compiled to the compilation CD, so they must be decent recordings, my friends!), a written bio, and some pics for your profile.
It's that simple! All genres are welcome!!!
