Born and raised in Lexington, KY, DeVon has always had a passion for the creative arts. She graduated from Lexington's School of the Performing Arts (SCAPA) before attending the University of Kentucky. While at UK, she was a member of both the Wildcat Danzers and the UK Dance Ensemble, which afforded her a variety of performance opportunities. She graduated from UK in 2004 with a B.A. in Arts Administration and a Minor in Dance.
DeVon has also had the privilege of dancing for Juanita Bynum Ministries, Lexington Tap and Jazz, and several other dance companies. In total, she has over 17 years of dance experience with styles including tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, African, and liturgical/praise dance.
In addition, she has significant experience teaching dance; she has taught private lessons to prepare students for specific auditions, coached a cheerleading squad, and overseen several church dance teams. DeVon currently leads and choreographs for SaySo Dance Ministry at Bethel Harvest Church in Lexington.
