PERSONAL //

It’s all one big P-A-R-T-Y innit. I’ve been involved in the music game for about 8 years now – the last 6 at legendary London club Turnmills, my home from home. It’s here you’ll find me managing all PR / Promotion campaigns for all Turnmills events and programming our flagship Saturday night sesh – TOGETHER. It’s all a bit of a giggle and the free JD is a wonderful touch. Never one for an easy life, we set up Lock N Load Events back in 2004 and our sell-out summer festivals Get Loaded in the Park and South West Four were born. Summer 2007 saw the addition of boutique festie Electric Gardens down in Kent to the roster, plus a series of one-off club nights around town. On a DJ tip, you can catch me (in a wig) monthy at Together under my Scarlet Pimp alias Vs partner in crime (and love) the Mannequin Doll... plus check out my debut EP – THE DUDE / THE SHIZZLE, forthcoming on Justin Robertson’s Neverworks label. Management-wise, big shout out to my man Anil Chawla, the nicest bloke in the biz. Resident DJ at Together and producer master for Global Underground, Cr2, Saved, Kill Brique to name a few. Debut artist album for GU drops early 2008.

TOGETHER //

Held on the last Saturday of the month at Turnmills, Together is widely regarded as a serious music club… although that’s about as far as the serious stuff goes, cos the events themselves are anything but serious and we’re just as well known for our fetish for fancy dress and party games as we are for our line-ups!! Too many highlights to mention... but four NYE’s with The Chems has been right up there, as were the huge collabs with Modular, Bestival and DFA, getting Natalie Portman to nearly host our indoor Golf Tournament, Gossip’s Beth Ditto’s impromptu PA and working with the most amazingly talented peeps on the planet is enough to make me a very happy chappy. The press are always nice too. The Guardian once said this... “Ok, so we’ve written about this night a fair bit recently, but it is the best night in London... so forgive the repetition”. Which was nice. Whilst those rogues at the Evening Standard said, "Once again, it’s the big night featuring bands, wigs, party games and some rather impress DJs." That’s Together all over – it’s just, erm, well, one big silly party! Guests have included 2manydjs, Mylo, Felix Da Housecat, Justice, Boys Noize, MSTRKRFT, Simian Mobile Disco, Para One, Busy P, Green Velvet and Fischerspooner, and we’ve got the best residents in the world in Justin Robertson, Anil Chawla, John Kennedy, Streetlife DJs and Black Rabbit. Lovely jubbly. Catch us at Snowboming 2008 as Together goes on the piste.

FESTIVALS //

Get Loaded in the Park and South West Four have been drawing sell-out crowds to Clapham Common, London for 4 years and more recently 2 years in Cardiff. A unique one-day festival experience, bang slap in the heart of the city. They’ve won awards too. We’ve got the trophy and everything. And they’ll be back next year bigger than ever. Newbie Electric Gardens is one for the campers and the cosy Kent site makes for the perfect weekend getaway. More of that coming your way too in 2008. Check it...

DJING //

Ah yes, the DJing. More of a hobbie than anything else... but me – The Scarlet Pimp and Mannequin Doll, have played some pretty cool gigs in our short time behind the dex. A monthly slot at Together is just an excuse to find a new fancy dress get up, whilst sets at Secret Garden festival, Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, Lock Tavern, Kilburn Bingo Hall, Transmission @ 93 Feet East and Bournemouth Opera House have all been bonkers. Musically, it’s pretty much a mixed bag of party bangers, funk, soul, old skool grooves, TV themes and nursery rhymes. Think Betty Boo on acid.
Available for weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs, Xmas parties and late night establishments. Email... [email protected]

MUSIC PRODUCTION //

THE DUDE/SHIZZLE EP are my debut efforts from the studio under the moniker S.T.I.X, a project put together with revered producer Dave Parkinson (who’s worked with Babyshambles and the Happy Mondays on their newest material). The Dude is a peak-time stomper. There’s a bit of a Donna Summer kind of disco-vibe going on, underneath some choice cowbells and a lazy kick that packs more of a punch than a right hook from Ricky Hatton!! With its epic break-down, acid squelches and frantic high hats, The Dude is a guaranteed party starter. It’s been wowing crowds all summer with heavy support coming in the shape of Nic Fanciulli, John Acquaviva, Paul Daley, Fischerspooner, Riotous Rockers and Cagedbaby to name a few. On the flip, The Shizzle is a more stripped down affair. The hypnotic bleeps and warm driving chords give the track a touch of the Balearics, whilst its trippy 4/4 clap draws you in and takes you somewhere else. It’s an addictive track alright; there’s almost something mystical about it. It’s rather beautiful in fact. DJs as varied as Hernan Cattaneo, Dan Ghenacia, Ali B, Mike Monday, Paul Arnold and Neil Quigley have been hammering this one. Zane Lowe’s protégés Uncle Buck provide a pumping remix of The Dude on the flip.

ARTIST MANAGEMENT //

Anil Chawla is one of the UK’s most hotly-tipped electronic DJ/Producers of the moment with DJ royalty Laurent Garnier, Pete Tong, Sasha/Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nic Fanciulli currently championing his deep, melodic-funk and freaky-acid house all over the globe. Global Underground are all over him, with 6 tracks/remixes signed to the label (with partner Dale Anderson) and a debut artist album to follow in 2008. Solo tracks appear on Kill Brique, Cr2, Saved and Vapour, with his productions featuring on several GU, Renaissance and Underwater compilations. As a DJ, he’s a resident at Together, and has had a great year touring all over the globe.
