Born in New York City, raised in Montréal, I moved down to San Francisco to pursue poetry. Started writing songs on a pawn-shop-bought mariachi guitar. My first chords were learned from Punk Rock Pete. Thanks Pete ! Back in Montréal my musical training was taken up by local poet/composer David Ranger and with his help I wrote my first tunes "One Armed Baby Killer" and "Fingernails". I soon left for Paris and not long after, David ended up here too. After a return to SF (to study poetics at the New College of California) and then a return to Paris (to write and drink wine ) I joined David, Amanda Watters and Florent Selig to form HAMPER - a great rock band that is still kicking around Paris. Here's a Video of us performing my tune "The Rest of it Looks Easy" at the OPA. ..and here's us playing "Miss Roseaway" from the same gig - it's one of my better songs, and one which Hamper always play so well ...
