THE BACK STORY:
Born in a suburb just outside Boston Massachusetts in 1981 Greg Picariello, aka Greg Pic, aka Pic, was intrigued by music at a young age. Growing up with an older brother whom played Organ, Piano and eventually Keyboard he was surrounded by music and exposed to many different styles and genres from 50's Rock to 80's Hip-Hop. Greg Pic started his musical adventure at age 10 with the Saxophone. After a short time he realized that Rhythm was his true calling and began playing the drums at age 12 and continued to play as an amateur throughout High School. During a night out with friends to under 21 event at a Saugus Mass nightclub The Palace he was first introduced to modern electronic music listening to DJ Rick Naples. The seed was planted and a love affair with electronic music began that night. He began frequenting Boston area clubs Avalon, Axis, Karma and others every chance possible to listen and watch locals DJ’s Manolo and Tim Ryan and others. Friends always new where to find Greg when out at a club, standing for hours behind the DJ booth watching, listening and learning. Much of 2004 and early 2005 was spent practicing every chance possible and watching/listening to National and International DJ’s at clubs from Boston to Miami such as DJ Boris, Cedric Garvais, Chus & Ceballos, Joe Bermudez, Jonathan Peters, Judge Jules and many more. While on a trip to New York and Philadelphia to see DJ Jaimy at the Sullivan Room (NYC) and ONE14 (Philly), ONE14 owner and friend Manny offered to have him spin in the downstairs room while DJ Jaimy spun upstairs. That night began Greg Pic’s professional DJ career. Back in Boston he looked for any opportunity to get behind the decks and share his music with anyone that would listen. Playing opening sets for small venues he learned how to structure a set and build energy. While working as a promoter for Mantra in Boston he asked if he could spin in the then unused Vault room, a small 70 person capacity room with a DJ Booth and a Bar. In the summer of 2006 he got a call from the promoters asking him to DJ the Main room at Mantra that night. After the night he became the Friday night resident DJ. In 2007 Greg Pic dove head first into music production, learning and creating new edgy tribal & electro house track including multiple releases on Kult Records; “SINISTERâ€, “AFTERHOUR SOUNDS†(co-produced with Fama) and multiple Electro-House remixes of Inari's "STRONGER".
