About Me

Rahmlee Michael Davis, trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer, Chicago native, recorded early in his career as a studio musician with such labels as Brunswick, Chess, Dakar, Curtom, Columbia and Capitol Records just to name a few.
Rahmlee has recorded with such noble artists as: Earth, Wind & Fire, Phil Collins, The Jacksons, Tyrone Davis, Frida (of ABBA), Jackie Wilson, The Whispers, Michael Jackson, Stanley Turrentine, The Sylvers, Side Affect, Rodney Franklin, B.B. King, The Chi-Lites, Barbara Acklin, The Artistics, Gene Chandler, Tupac Shakur, Curtis Mayfield, Snoop Dogg, Donny Hathaway, Ramsey Lewis, Young-Holt Unlimited, Minnie Riperton, Philip Bailey, The Emotions, Klique, Charles Earland, Macy Gray, Bobby Womack, Al McKay & The L.A. All Stars/The Earth, Wind & Fire Experience and countless others. Rahmlee appears on most of these recordings in conjunction with the ORIGINAL Earth, Wind & Fire horn section; independently known as “The Phenix Horns Esquire." Check out the official website of The Phenix Horns, www.thephenixhorns.com .
It was Rahmlee‘s versatile and unique musical style that made him so in demand and brought him to the attention of Earth, Wind & Fire. Along with the late Don Myrick, the late Lui Lui Satterfield and Michael Harris, he spent 8 years establishing The Phenix Horns section as an integral part of the musical act awarded Gold and Multi-Platinum albums, and numerous Grammys. Earth, Wind & Fire made musical history as the world’s greatest pop/rock band. Their worldwide tours are still talked about as some of the best and most successful ever staged. Rahmlee can be heard on such hits as; "September," "Boogie Wonderland," "Let's Groove," "After The Love Has Gone," "Got To Get You Into My Life," and "In The Stone."
After noting their explosive presence with Earth, Wind & Fire, Phil Collins initiated a musical coup, and The Phenix Horns became an important element of his decade long string of Gold and Platinum recordings, as well as very successful world tours. Rahmlee can be heard on such hits as; "I Missed Again," "Something Happened On The Way To Heaven," "It Don't Matter To Me," "Only You Know And I Know," and "Sussudio."
You Can't Stop This! (2006): A wonderful blend of Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop and Jazz, featuring Rahmlee on trumpet, keyboards, synth strings, percussion and vocals. The CD starts off with the hypnotic “Please Don’t Make Me Weep” followed by Usher’s “Yeah,” Beyonce’s “Baby Boy,” and the Barbara Mason classic, "Yes I'm Ready." The CD also includes, "Basin Street Brass" which is dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and "Rise Of The Phenix Part 4," dedicated to The Phenix Horns. Rounding out the CD are "I'm Wrapped," "You And Me," and an extended version of "I'm Wrapped." "You Can't Stop This!" was co-produced by Zane Grey and Rahmlee (I.F.E. Records, Rahmike Music/Rahm Records Productions.) Zane Grey, a Chicago native and veteran talent, is an accomplished songwriter and recording artist, whose many chart-topping songs and gold records include the '80s smash hit "Back In Love Again," which he co-wrote for L.T.D., more recently he wrote "Da Butta" recorded by Will Smith and Lil' Kim. "You Can't Stop This!" also includes the production and musical talents of Billy Osborne, a former member of L.T.D. and brother of Jeffrey Osborne.
Intimacy (2005): Rahmlee's sweet trumpet will hypnotize you. The soulful, hip, beebop, jazzy, cool, and easy listening moods will relax you. Body, mind & spirit will make you want more... The tantilizing setting the music eludes is great for intimacy whether meditation with the Most High or making love under the shadow of the Most High. "Intimacy" features The Phenix Horns Esquire, former Earth, Wind & Fire members; Larry Dunn and Al McKay, Robert Turner, Derf Reklaw Raheem and a host of other guest musicians. Check out tracks like "Most High," "Intimacy," "Thank You For Ya," "Rise Of The Phenix (Suite)," and "Lembranca."
Souljazzz (1995): The album features fellow Phenix Horns member; Lui Lui Satterfield, former Earth, Wind & Fire member; Larry Dunn, Derf Reklaw Raheem and Kevin Toney.
Those who like conventional but still peppy and diverse horn records may find solace in Rahmlee's trumpet extravaganza "Souljazzz," which offers silky soul and lighthearted jazz in a variety of comfortable settings, from friendly pop covers to the requisite "Mandela" tribute. Rahm's lengthy resume as a sideman includes longtime stints with Earth, Wind & Fire and Phil Collins, so it was perhaps inevitable that even his greatest twists and turns are in the service of more playful and frothy R&B based fare. The amiable take on Collins' "Another Day In Paradise" epitomizes this mindset. Yet if you're patient and dig beyond the Quiet Storm breezes, prepare for the rewards of a dapper rendition of "My Favorite Things" and the free for all, seemingly spontaneous blues jam rehearsal "Blues Fa Don," which blends avant-garde trumpet improvisation with Joel Brandon's soaring flute and some monster drum over bass tracks. Scattered choice of material aside, the true charms of Rahmlee lie in his chameleonic blowing style. A bit like Miles in his ability to switch formats so effortlessly, he succeeds in creating a soundscape where no two tunes are quite the same. He may hold back at times to get some crossover attention, but it's easy to see a true jazz soul underlying his festive heart. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide
Rise Of The Phenix (1981): "Rise Of The Phenix" is Rahmlee's first solo album. The album features fellow Phenix Horns members; Don Myrick, Lui Lui Satterfield & Michael Harris, Nathan East, Leon "Ndugu" Chancler, James Jamerson Jr., Derf Reklaw Raheem, Steve Ferrone and Dean Gant. Check out tracks like "Heartbreaker," "Basin Street Brass/Down In Storyville," "Rise Of The Phenix I (Birth & Consumption)," "Never Give Up On You," "You Know What I Mean," "Think," and "Rise Of The Phenix II (Rebirth & Immortality)" at www.rahmlee.com .
