About Me

I'm a radio guy. I grew up 'til my teens on radio. I prefer radio to TV because (as Stan Freeburg said) it has better pictures.
I love good talk. I love the human voice. I love thoughts and feelings, and putting them into words. I love words - all of them. There are no bad words. People can be bad; words just tell you about the person saying them.
I love listening. I've spent a few years on the road in the 60's (my twenties) listening my way across Europe, North Africa (ask me about Marakesh), Turkey, and Mexico. And looking, too.
I've also spent a professional career listening, first as a psychotherapist in my 30's and 40's, and then as a divorce mediator in my 50's and 60's
I've seen and heard a lot, and I can put it all into words - at least most of it.
If you like to listen to social commentary, psycho-social satire and storytelling, give me a listen. I always have 5 talking pieces on my Audio Player at any one time, so when you see the audio player with titles that look like songs on it, don't expect to hear music. What you will hear is talking-the best talking I'm capable of. If you are into talking as an art form, I might just be your guy. If you think George w. Bush should be put in front of a firing squad, shot, and then impeached, I just might be your guy (Listen to "Diagnosing Bush".) If you think it wouldn't be safe to leave small children alone with God, I just might be your guy (Listen to "Diagnosing God".) If you think that Congress should be using performance enhancing drugs, I just might be your guy (Listen to "Congress on Steroids".) And, if you don't think that Medical Marijuana has anything to do with Sir Edmond Hillary's conquest of Mt. Everest, then I am definitely your guy (Listen to "Mountain High.) My pieces are usually between 10 and 20 minutes long. If you like them, tell your friends about them. in any event, let me know what you think about them. When I first started posting my talking pieces on MySpace, I didn't put much effort into writing blogs. Lately, that has changed. For the last year I've been putting considerable effort into writing (mostly) satirical social commentary, often with a psychological twist. If you like reading cutting social satire, I might be just what you are looking for (Read "The Phony Immigration Chrisis.) They must be pretty good, because they've been getting as many "visits" as the talking pieces get "plays." So do read some of the blogs and see what you think.I'm always looking for interesting subjects to talk or write about, so if you can think of a subject that is likely to be of interest to a wide audience, write me. If it interests me (and I think it will turn on my audience) I'll do a piece on it.
Lastly this link will take you to the website for The Wallflower Gallery, the coolest place in Downtown Miami Art, Film, Live Bands, Spoken Word and everything else we haven't thought of yet. Check out the very early (old) blog entry if you want to read up on it.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: This is a one man band, and I am the member. It has come to my attention that I am a Sage with a piercing, satirical mind. You may be asking "Where the hell did you get that idea?" So I'll tell you. One day I listened to some of my talking pieces and read a few of my blogs and thought "Wow, that guy has a piercing satirical mind!"; knowing full well that I was talking about myself. But thats O'K.; its only a problem if you talk TO yourself. Then I looked at the number of plays on my two MySpace profiles. Almost 20,000 plays, and still counting. I am famous in a group of about 400 more or less regular listener/readers spread all over the USA. All because of this magical, new technology. All people who I would never have met if not for MySpace. And I talk and interact with many of them. Isn't that wild!I have to admit, the Sage part was my idea. I read someplace that a Sage is a man over the age of 50. If I were born at fifty I'd still be in my late teens. So I figure I've been a Sage for 16 years. That makes me a senior fucking Sage! Some of my friends have said "Mark, you can't be a Sage because you curse so much!" To which I reply "Sue me, I'm a purple Sage."So pay attention to my finely tuned (mostly) satirical productions. I guarantee you many a laugh, and who knows...you might even learn something
Influences: Sid Ceasar, Ernie Kovacs, Lenny Bruce, Lord Buckley, Sigmund Freud and about a hundred other psychoanalysts. They are my intellectual mentors, though I've only met the hundred other psychoanalysts.
Sounds Like: NOTICE TO ALL MY FRIENDS:

I am able to have a Myspace page because of the help and support I get here at The Wallflower Gallery, especially the help I get from the owner C.D. Flash. I don’t own a computer and can’t even turn the damn thing on without him. I do email and accept new friends. Flash or Alonso do everything else. I volunteer to do the door on Fridays for the music shows, and spend most of Thursday online answering email, accepting new friends, and working on my blog. There are times when other people here check my profile, update info, or do cyber-fishing for me. They do not read my messages or respond to friends requests. When you hear from me, its likely to be on Thursday. From time to time staff may post bulletins or add events to my calendar. In other words, just because my page says I’m online doesn’t mean I’m online.

I am able to give voice to my opinions and fancies because the Wallflower exists. Without a place like this you would never have heard of me or from me. Check my blog to read about this place; there are few like it. If you have a place like this you are damn lucky; chances are you don’t and aren’t. Flash records all my pieces during live performances, edits them and Alonso posts them. What a deal! All I do is talk. So if you enjoy my talking pieces, don’t thank me; thank the Wallflower, I couldn’t do it without them.
