i have many interests. i am interested in being interested, which produces a kind of chain reaction of sorts. i once read that a person who is interesting is a person who is interested and i suppose that stays in the back of my mind. i think being genuinely interested in any sort of new thing makes for a pretty interesting life, which i suppose could then lead to fulfillment, happiness, etc.
i am especially interested in all things creative. and true. and real. i am interested in some new things, but mostly if they come from new ideas. i once heard someone say if theres an original thought out there i could sure use it right now and i agree with him.
i'm interested in other people, as a concept and in practical application.
i am always interested in music. and children. and art.
...and ideas. someone once said small minds talk about people, big minds talk about events, and great minds talk about ideas, and i agree with her. i like to fancy myself as the latter, but sometimes i have no choice but to fall into the other classifications.
i like rain...and the feel of the sun. and the look of sapphires. and playing starfox adventures.
i also love peaches. and guacamole. but not mixed. ew.
other equally morose/fanatical people...i am fascinated by most kinds of people. i appreciate people on a path to self actualization especially, those capable of clever banter with sparkling (or sparkly) wit and humour. i would freak out daily if i ever knew someone who loves karaoke as i do. or broadway musicals. or the potential of the human spirit.
"She said why? Why don't we drive through the night and we'll wake up down in Mexico? (Oh I, I don't know nothin' about nothin' about Mexico.) And tell me why,
why won't you love me for who I am where I am? He said: 'Cause that's not the way the world is baby. This is how I love you, baby...this is how I love you, baby..."
~Paul Simon
To fling my arms wide
In some place of the sun,
To whirl and to dance
Till the white day is done.
Then rest at cool evening
Beneath a tall tree
While night comes on gently,
Dark like me-
That is my dream!
To fling my arms wide
In the face of the sun,
Dance! Whirl! Whirl!
Till the quick day is done.
Rest at pale evening...
A tall, slim tree...
Night coming tenderly
Black like me.
~ Dream Variations by Langston Hughes
"Will it ever be possible to separate you from your grayness?"
~William Carlos Williams
The American Dream is too small. It’s not enough to be the quarterback and marry the cheerleader and make senior VP and have the tiniest cellphone. We can be great, but it will not be measured by investment portfolios or personal fitness trainers. It will be measured by the voice inside yourself that tells you what you are truly capable of. The American Dream will always be there for you. But your own dream, if you listen, is much, much bigger.

i also like movies, yes. they're pretty spectacular, movies are in general, when you think about it, and we can all bitch and moan about how much movies make and cost and actors' fees but really its amazing to even get 2 hours of entertainment for like eight bucks come on people. especially if it ends up being a movie you realllly like.
like eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, heavenly creatures, anne of green gables, west side story, edward scissorhands, franco zeffirelli's romeo&juliet, magnolia, orange county, almost famous, overboard, shallow hal, sense & sensibility, what dreams may come, love actually, dead poets society, showboat, the little mermaid, elizabeth, pretty in pink, shakespeare in love, gone with the wind, the goonies, harry potter(s).
i really also appreciate a good animated short. my favorite longish short is the snowman, and my favorite shortish short is the big snit, made by the same guy (richard condie) who did the cat came back for those in the know.
i think television is part of the biggest flaw of our weakened society. the current state thereof. however, i am not a total freak of nature who's never watched it. that would be *so* embarrassing. my favorite shows of all time are roseanne and the wonder years, even though i saw fred savage in athens years later and he really seemed like an ass and a half. i also really appreciate mtv's oddities series from years ago, which debuted my favorite cartoon ever, the maxx, that big purple guy with the claw.
my favorite kind of books are fairytale books, childrenstyle or for study. i also love how to books and/or books on intriguing subjects like witchcraft. i enjoy reading plays, in script form especially - (my favorite is cloud tectonics by jose rivera), some poetry (like shel silverstein and ts eliot), and a representative collection of the great writing time for america back in the mid century. my favorite from this group is of course henry miller.
i love wonder woman and strive to mimic my life humbly against hers.
