Rafe

About Me

“If Kermit the Frog, Rowlf the Dog and Fozzie Bear got together and had a three way Muppet baby, its name would be Rafe.”
Rafe Morris is an Australian singer songwriter with unique warmth in his stage presence and good humour in his music.
Once the front man of the 8 piece Ska band Dahahoo, Rafe now stands alone on stage. It’s now much more obvious when he makes mistakes, but he doesn’t mind looking like an idiot. He’s used to it.
Rafe began performing solo in 2006 and has been winning audiences with engaging lyrics, catchy tunes and a personable persona since. He has performed at some of Australia’s top music festivals including Woodford and The National Folk Festival, as well as some of Australia’s top music venues, and has recently started gigging internationally. He has also been a feature artist on Triple J Unearthed.
His Debut album “It’s Not As Shit As It Looks” released in February ’07 has had great success and is something that Rafe is extremely proud of. It has received international airplay and it is something that you should own.
Rafe is currently traveling the world and spreading his optimistic cynicism as far as he can.
Offensive without offending, controversial without controverting, shaping the English language without a mould, Rafe is tops and worthy of your ears.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.triplejunearthed.com/rafemorris
Band Members: Just Rafe and his guitar, which is yet to be named.
Influences: I dig most things, and it's probable that my digging throws a few different bits and pieces into my songs. The music I play is seemingly less diverse then the music I listen to, but if you use your imagination, it can sound however you want!
I have been likened to Baterz, Tripod, Tim Freedman, Fred Smith and I try to emulate people like Kimya Dawson, Darren Hanlon, Mal Webb, my friends and assorted Muppet and Sesame St characters...that have many similarities to my friends.
If any of the names I have just mentioned are unfamiliar, please check them out as they're all awesome.Apart from musical stylings, I get turned on by Australia, people and anything I can make fun of.
