About Me

The American Heart AssociationHeart disease and Stroke are the number one mostly costly killers of women in the United States. The American Heart Association is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization that focuses on cardiovascular diseases. It was founded in 1924 and began as a way to help doctors exchange information about heart diseases. Today, the organization is based in Dallas, Texas. It has 12 regional affiliates and hundreds of local organizations. It has more than 3,000 employees and 22 million volunteers. Its goal is to reduce heart disease and stroke by 25 percent by 2010. To help them reach their goal, they invest in scientific research, community service, and educating the public and professional world. The American Heart Association's biggest fund-raising event is the Heart Walk. The Heart walk draws over a million walkers a year in about 600 locations. It promotes physical activity and heart-healthy activity.
