Ã…se Teigland

Ã…se Teigland (1975) lives in Bergen as freelance musician. Ã…se grew up in Hardanger, one of the larger fjords in the west of Norway. It`s from the strong hardanger fiddle tradition of the Hardanger region that Ã…se learned, and still gets most of her material from. The solo concert is her favourite, but she also enjoys to cooperate with others in groups like: SKREKK, trio HARDANGER etc.Ã…se Teigland won the Landskappleiken in 2005. This was the first time any woman had won the first price alone. Landskappleiken is the most important festival for traditional Norwegian folk music.Ã…se has had several international assignments like The European Youth Folk Orchestra, cooperation with Chinese musicians in Chinese TV in addition to several concerts abroad. Most of her music is learned from older recognised fiddle players, but also from older recordings and written sources.
