About Me

Hi thanks alot for coming to check me out, here's a few words about where i am and how i got here, hope you enjoy the music, feel free to comment. I grew up with my mum and sister in a little house in Bournemouth, i wasn't really born into a musical environment and I spent most of my younger days riding mtb and bmx. I think my calling to do music was introduced when i got involved with Mr Simms guitar club when I started secondary school. There I learnt a few chords and my first few songs, but from there I taught myself using books and watching to see what other players did. I always liked to perform in various concerts through school mainly on electric guitar. My inspirations at first were those of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani and some 70’s rock/blues guitar hero’s who’s cd’s my older brother had given me, although it was hard to make what they did come naturally so i tended to stick to my own compositions. When i was fourteen i got introduced to “Electric” a guitar youth club, ran by Local Blues guitar genius Mike Brooks. Electric taught me the common knowledge of what i hadn’t learnt when teaching myself, like some of the theory behind what he i playing. Before meeting Mike i had never really idolised anyone, so it was mike who passed on the Bluesy feel in my playing. To be honest I never really listened directly to blues music it’s just something that came naturally to me after listening to mike. After mike’s input I used my knowledge to teach others at the youth club and to join in various Jam’s at school and performances in the community I feel geting involved in as much as possible is the best way to improve. When i was 15 i entered a youth talent contest at the Bournemouth Pavilion where i performed a three minute guitar solo i wrote to an audience of almost 1000 people although I didn’t win it was a great experience for me and it inspired me to want to grow as a performing musician. Since then i have been in several performances. It wasn’t till i was in his emotional stages of being a teenager, and of course fell in love that i started to write things down. This inspired me to start training my voice so that i could get my words out through my music. When i left school i Went onto Bournemouth College where i studyed music practice which helped me to focus on music more seriously. It was in 2005 that i was eager to start getting a serious group together and as i had been having frequent Jamming sessions with Chris Atwell a voluntary Bass guitar teacher at the youth club, we decided to form a band “The Blue Feeling” which was to be my first Guitar and vocal Project. The blue feeling was a chance for me to get regular gig’s and use all of the little musical and vocal ideas i had been working on over the past year, since summer 06 The Blue feeling as a whole have been practicing weekly and have got ourselves involved with the local music scene in Bournemouth. Last year i won a full scholarship funded by yamaha at the institute (in my top friends) now i've finished that, i'm starting a music degree there this septemeber, i feel keeping involved keeps things moving so thats why i'm continuing study hofefully next year will bring good things for myself and the band!
