Chris Leon was born in The Hague, The Netherlands. During his youth, he played the piano and learned to perform the classics like Mozart, Chopin, Debussy and Beethoven. Lateron, he needed more freedom and started with Jazz. This was the beginning for composing music.
At High School, he got in touch with electronic music and the black gold. Together with his close friend Ramon, he learned the skills to mix records on turntables. At that thime, they performed at several parties and radioshows in Leiden (The Netherlands). One of these radioshows was "Next Groove", where famous dj's like Stacey Pullen played their stuff.
In 1998, Chris Leon moved to Amsterdam and started with the study Communication Science. For the first time he had a major gig in the famous club Roxy. In the following years he was a resident dj at Dansen bij Jansen, guest dj in Odeon and played at various locations in Amsterdam like the AMP Studios, Blijburg, Twstd, Tetra and Vaaghuyzen.
In 2002 Chris Leon founded the Essentially platform, to support unknown but talented dj's & musicians like the live act Page One. In 2005, Chris Leon decided to concentrate more on producing but is still dj-ing: his last big gig was at the Melkweg, performing for about a 1000 people. Check www.essentially.nl for more!
